As a queer singer/songwriter from Dublin, I've always been on the lookout for a space that feels like home, a place where I can truly express myself and connect with like-minded artists. I found this in Sam’s Collective; a unique community that has become my sanctuary for musical exploration and growth.

Sam’s Collective is a thriving community of queer/ally artists, musicians, and creatives who come together to share their talents and support one another. Currently located in Wigwam, Dublin every second Sunday, the collective offers a space where creativity can flourish without judgment or pressure.
My journey with Sam’s Collective began around two years ago. I was searching for a space where I felt comfortable enough to share my talent and give me a sense of belonging as well as inspiration. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I had found something special. The atmosphere was electric yet inviting, filled with people who shared a passion for music and creativity. There is no feeling quite like it.
Sam’s Collective offers me the invaluable experience of a safe space to perform and experiment with my music. Here, I can try out new songs and ideas without the fear of criticism or tomatoes being thrown at me.
As queer people, we tend to limit our expression due to the sheer anxiety of our surroundings, and in previous times when I've been given the opportunity to perform in other venues separate to Sam's Collective, I could always feel my self-doubt creeping in, wanting to please everyone.
Breaking down that barrier and allowing us to express, allows us to find our true voice; and I cannot thank Sam enough for creating this community. Every performance feels like a shared journey between the artist and the audience, creating moments that are both personal and communal. One of the highlights of Sam’s Collective is the people. I've met so many talented artists here, each with their own unique stories and styles. The friendships and collaborations that have emerged from this space are something I cherish deeply. It's a place where everyone is welcome, and diversity is celebrated, making it a melting pot of creativity and inspiration.
As I continue attending Sam’s Collective, I am excited for what the future holds. This space has given me the confidence to pursue my dreams and the tools to hone my craft. I look forward to many more performances, collaborations, and moments of inspiration at these incredible events. Sam’s Collective is more than just a place to perform - it's a non-click community, a haven, and a source of endless inspiration. For anyone queer/ally looking to find their artistic voice and connect with others who share their passion, I cannot recommend it enough So if you ever find yourself in Dublin on a Sunday, check out Sam’s Collective. You might just find your new favourite spot, just like I did.
